Dental Insurance FAQ

Please keep in mind the following:
Each Dental Insurance Plan is a contract between YOU, your employer, and the Dental Insurance Company; and
Each Dental Insurance Plan has its own specifically defined benefits, coverages, exclusions, and rules; and
Some employers provide multiple dental insurance plans that an employee can pick from based upon your individual needs, benefits provided, and monthly premiums.

Please, read and review each plan before purchasing to understand what the specific set of benefits and coverage is associated with the monthly premium fee.  If you have any questions about your plan options, we are happy to review your options with you and help you pick the plan level that works best for your situation.

Although the level of benefits and coverage can vary greatly from plan to plan, in general, we see the following level of coverage in the majority of dental insurance plans:

  • Preventative services such as exams, cleaning, and radiographs are covered at 100%
  • Basic dental treatments such as fillings or root canals are covered at 80%
  • Major dental treatments such as prosthetic items like bridges, crowns, dentures, and implants are covered at 50% benefit rate
  • A year maximum dollar amount of coverage limit of around $1,500.00 per year
  • A deductible, paid by the patient, must be met before the insurance company provides payments for dental treatments in the basic or major categories.

The above-stated percentage rates for coverage are based upon the 'average' dental insurance plan as seen by this office over the last 30 years.  Your particular benefit structure may and will vary from the average.  For example, we have found that with some plans, the actual fees covered by the plan are different for the fees charged by the dentist because the insurance company uses their own private and proprietary fees schedule for dental treatment as the "allowed amount".  Therefore, when you have a check-up and teeth cleaning, the "100% covered", whether "in or out" of network, means the insurance company will pay 100% of the fee they have privately determined or allowed.  This usually differs from the dentist's actual fees and may leave you with a balance to pay.

Because of that, we will help you determine what benefits and coverage levels are provided by your specific dental insurance plan and we will help you maximize and get the most out of your dental insurance to help you get the dental treatments and smile you need and want within your budget.

Financial Policy

Payment for your dental care and treatment is due at your dental visit.  We accept cash, check, money orders, American Express, CareCredit, Discover, MasterCard, Visa, and a wide variety of insurances.

If you have dental insurance, we will provide you with an estimate of what your balance will be after your dental insurance company has provided payment. Co-payments, deductibles, Office VIsit Fees, and  your estimated out-of pocket portion for your dental treatment are due at the time dental care is provided to you.
If a balance exists after your dental insurance has provided payment, that amount is, also, iyour responsibility to pay.

Payment Plans are available through   CareCredit Healthcare Finance.

If you do not have dental insurance, Perry Dental Solutions offers our Dental Health Care Club to help defray the costs of dental care and treatments.
